The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has ramped up its pre-election advertising campaign to highlight the challenges confronting small businesses.

The lobby group, which backed the controversial WorkChoices policy in the lead-up to the 2007 election, is using real people in a series of ads to urge the next government to cut red tape and simplify the tax system.ACCI's "Small Business Too Big To Ignore" campaign will move into its second phase today as it addresses what it sees as the big four hurdles of red tape, the tax system, employment barriers and the need for better infrastructure. The ad campaign comes as businesses of all sizes worry about the uncertainty caused by the leadership tensions in the Government.ACCI's chief executive Peter Anderson says businesses remain frustrated that the Federal Government has not been listening to their concerns.
